37-year-old woman arrested for using lost credit card at Tokyo Disneyland

CHIBA —Police on Wednesday arrested a 37-year-old housewife for buying 65 one-day passports for Tokyo Disneyland with a credit card she found in Urayasu City, Chiba Prefecture.

Kyoko Kuroda was arrested for allegedly using the lost credit card at Tokyo Disneyland’s ticket counter to buy the passports worth about 350,000 yen on Sept 15. According to police, Kuroda found the credit card inside Tokyo Disneyland while she was there with her 8-year-old son.

Kuroda bought 65 passes around 2:30 p.m. and tried to buy more around 4:55 p.m. but the credit card company reported the fraud use to Disneyland. Kuroda tried to flee into the theme park but was soon caught by Disneyland staff.

Kuroda denied the allegations at first but finally confessed, saying, “I wanted to exchange the passes for money to pay back a housing loan.”

I think the junior JDS fellows in IUJ should be aware of this accident as it is common in Niigata esp. during winter when bears are run out of food.

NIIGATA — A bear attacked two people on Sunday morning in Minami-Uonuma City, Niigata Prefecture. The victims suffered severe injuries to their head and face, police said Monday.
According to police, the bear attacked Hatsui Toda, 75, around 6:40 a.m. when she was collecting nuts in the forest. About 20 minutes later, Kazumasa Ishida, 68, was also attacked by what is believed to have been the same bear on a road about 2 km from the forest.
Police said the bear is about 1.6 meters tall. Local hunter groups have been mobilized to find the bear.
